The library works as an actual gathering point, not just a pickup stop, and the commercial strips lean toward eating out, so there's usually a decent weeknight option without having to make it a destination. The Southwood Skatepark and a handful of elementary schools — Ethel M. Johnson School and Harold Panabaker School among them — give different parts of the day their own rhythm. Lutheran Church of the Cross and Southwood United Church have been around long enough that they feel less like features and more like furniture.
